To get to Portobello Green Fitness Club & Westway Development Trust By London UndergroundLadbroke Grove station on the Hammersmith & City Line is only a few minutes away from the Trust office and Portobello Green Fitness Club. Leave the station and cross the road at the lights in front of you, turn left under the bridge and then immediately after coming out from under the bridge turn right to take the pedestrianised path on your right (which is Thorpe Close), this runs alongside and below the Westway flyover. Walk ahead for a minute or so, past the 'Pepper Pot' building and you will see a bright purple door to 1 Thorpe Close on your right. Westway Development Trust is based here at number 1. The Trust-run Portobello Green Fitness Club is just past it on the right.

By busThe buses 7, 23, 70 & 52 all stop under the bridges by Ladbroke Grove station. Walk slightly up the hill under the bridges and take the path to your right (Thorpe Close). Walk ahead for 2-3 minutes. Westway Development Trust is at 1 Thorpe Close and Portobello Green Fitness Club is just past it on the right.
To get to Portobello Green Fitness Club & Westway Development Trust by car: From Central LondonDrive west through Notting Hill Gate, as the road leaves the shops and begins to go down the hill, move into the right hand lane. Turn right at the lights into Ladbroke Grove (and the MITRE pub). The road goes up and down a hill. Continue under the combined railway/motorway bridge. Take the first right turning after the bridges into Cambridge Gardens. Almost immediately there is a narrow private lane which is the entrance via a car barrier to Thorpe Close.
Parking at Portobello Green Fitness Club During the day this can be difficult but after 4pm you can park in Thorpe Close virtually outside the Club, this is also possible on Sundays all day - but on Saturdays this area is not accessible to cars due to the Market. There are also a limited number of Pay & Display parking spaces in Cambridge Gardens but on Fridays and Saturdays they are usually full. All the nearby roads are designated as residents parking. The restrictions are lifted after 1830 and on Sundays (but NOT Bank Holidays) Visitors with appointments at Westway Development Trust may obtain a visitors permit to park in Thorpe Close car park subject to availability.
To get to Westway Sports Centre by London UndergroundLatimer Road station is on the Hammersmith & City Line. Leave the station and cross the road in front of you, this is Bramley Road. Turn right and walk up Bramley Road, you will see the Westway flyover crossing the road ahead. Walk towards it (there are five-a-side pitches beneath the flyover on the left) and turn left into Crowthorne Road. A tree-lined pedestrian entrance avenue between fenced football pitches leads to the Reception and main entrance. The climbing centre, gym and indoor tennis courts as well as changing areas, Crussh cafe and tills for booking and paying for activities are all accessed via this entrance.
To get to Westway Sports Centre by busThe number 295 bus stops in Bramley Road and the number 7 bus stops nearby in Cambridge Gardens.
To get to Westway Sports Centre by car from the north or west Approach along the Westway (A40). Take the exit marked Hammersmith & Shepherds Bush (A3220). The road comes down to Holland Park Roundabout, a very large one with a central glass tower. Take the first exit signed Central London. Immediately turn left into Royal Crescent and immediately left again into St Ann's Villas. Continue, bearing very slightly right at the junction before the railway bridge (the road is now called Bramley Road). Drive under the railway bridge to the flyover bridge ahead. Drive under the flyover bridge and immediately turn left into Crowthorne Road - the car park entrance ramp is then immediately in front of you, the car parking is in the Centre's own underground car park (below our full-size football pitch) run by Euro Car Parks and you pay only £1.50 for up to five hours parking, for periods over five hours a daily charge of £5 is made. For further details CLICK HERE To get to Westway Sports Centre by car from the south Approach on the one-way system that comes past the Earl's Court Exhibition Centre (Warwick Road) - follow the system up Holland Road to the major roundabout (Holland Park Roundabout) with a central glass tower. Take the third exit signed Notting Hill Gate (A402). As you drive round the roundabout ensure that you are in the left lane at the point where you leave it, because you need to turn left almost immediately; turn left into Royal Crescent and immediately left again into St Ann's Villas. Continue up this road, bearing slightly right at the junction before the railway bridge (the road is now called Bramley Road). Drive under the railway bridge to the motorway bridge ahead. Congestion Charging information for Westway Sports Centre (and other WDT sites) As you may know Westway Sports Centre is within the new Western Extension of the Congestion Charging Zone. This came into effect on Monday 19th February 2007.
The charge will operate ONLY between 7am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. The congestion charge will not operate during weekends, Public Holidays, and the days between Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The (new) current end-time of 6pm is half an hour earlier than the previous end of charging period and applies to the whole congestion charging zone.
The charge area starts just to the North West of the Westway Sports Centre on North Pole Road at the point where the railway bridge crosses North Pole Road, just after the start of the road at its junction with Wood Lane. Coming from Ladbroke Grove's northern end the charge starts after the mini-roundabout giving access to the Sainsbury's superstore (which somehow managed to avoid being within the charge area, despite being within the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea).
The following types of vehicles are exempt from the charge:Motorcycles and scooters [these must be 1 metre or less in width & 2 metres or less in length – however, this basically means all motorcycles and scooters in standard production] Vehicles with 9 or more seats (minibuses or 9-seat people carriers) Alternative fuel or hybrid vehicles (such as the Toyota Prius) - full details available online: CLICK HERE for MORE DETAILS at http://www.cclondon.com/downloads/Drivers.pdf
In addition the following exemptions apply: 100% exemption for Disabled people, who hold a Blue Badge (formerly known as Orange Badge) 90% exemption for residents living within the congestion charging zone (including the new western extension) limited to one vehicle per person. The discounted resident's charge is payable by weekly payments of £4, monthly payments of £16 or an annual charge costing £201.60
To get to Westway Development Trust's offices by tubePLEASE NOTE THAT THE WESTWAY SPORTS CENTRE AND CLIMBING CENTRE ARE NEAREST TO LATIMER ROAD TUBE. However the Trust's offices (and Fitness Club) are very close to Ladbroke Grove tube station on the Hammersmith & city Line. Simply cross the road and walk left under the rail and road bridges, then turn right into Thorpe Close which is pedestrianised. Number one is approximately thirty yards down the close on the right (under the Westway flyover) and is marked by a banner hung from the flyover.

The road comes down to a large roundabout with a central glass tower. Take the first exit signed Central London. Follow Holland Park Avenue as it gently goes up the hill (about 1/2 a mile). At the fourth set of traffic lights turn left into Ladbroke Grove, the road goes up and down a hill. Continue under the combined railway/motorway bridge. Take the first right turn after the bridges into Cambridge Gardens. Almost immediately there is a narrow private lane which is Thorpe Close.

At the seventh set of traffic lights turn left into Ladbroke Grove (just after the Mitre pub - formerly the Rat & Carrot - on the left), the road goes up and down a hill. Continue under the combined railway/motorway bridge. Take the first right turn after the bridges into Cambridge Gardens. Almost immediately there is a narrow private lane which turns off to the right, this is Thorpe Close, there is a car barrier controlling access, just press and speak to the Receptionist.
